The Dutch pioneer and master of stencil art Hugo Kaagman has designed the façade of the biggest Delft blue building in the Netherlands commissioned by Essent and Cie Architects. The tiles of this new power station in Roombeek in Enschede depict typical city scenes combined with images of energy and heat. The design of this impressive artwork is typical of Kaagman’s graffiti-style which has undergone a successful growth since 1969. Kaagman's impressive body of work has its origins in the punk and reggae culture, followed by a research inspired by the wealth and traditions of Western and non-Western cultures. The Delft blue artworks, making Kaagman known among the general public, are the result of a rediscovery of the Dutch culture combined with modern influences. Kaagman’s recent work shows an experimental and often ironic commentary on political and social issues. These works usually contain a sharp and humorous undertone. The Cabinodd gallery is showing Kaagman’s worldfamous stencil art in works made for the new power station in Roombeek, Enschede. On the occasion of this prominent project in Enschede, original artworks integrated in the Roombeek power station can be ordered through the gallery. How does it work? Select the desired tile used on the power station, e-mail your choice to Cabinodd and a few weeks later you will receive your original Kaagman artwork and authentic power station stencil.

During the exhibition, the 'Kunstkoop regeling' can be applied, made possible by artkitchen gallery. For more information visit: www.dekunstkoop.nl.
